Leafs lose a 2009 4th round pick in Frogren signing.

Leafs fined and lose 4rd round draft pick in Jonas Frogren signing.

John Tavares sucks.

Having watched Tavares quite closely the past four years , I can say with complete and utter conviction: ...................... ............... ......... ...

Tanking? What is "tanking"?

"Tanking" is all about perspective, interpretation and realistic expectations.  It is terminology on drugs.
Lets look at it from three different angles and what it should mean.

Matt Stajan: Trade him or sign him?

Matt Stajan is on pace for 19 goals, 41 assists and 60 points in 71 games played. His trade value would have to be at its highest, would you trade him?

Sundin - The cost of complacency

Would a great leader not go play hockey for a contending team for 2 months if it meant "his team" would gain significant assets... where he could potentially win a Stanley Cup then still return in the summer to his home team? Apparently not, instead he would stick around with all his buddies for an inevitable failed playoff run, piss around all summer,  all the way through training camp and the first 3rd of the season. Then after (perhaps intentionally) wearing out his welcome at home, sign as a free agent rental player for an entirely different team. Seems like an easy way out to me. What was there that was admirable about Captain Mats sticking around last year for the Maple Leafs failed playoff run and resulting crap draft position?

Leafs trade : Carlo Colaiacovo & Alex Steen for Lee Stempniak

Stempniak had a great preseason,,, any poolies surely noticed him at the top of preseason scoring charts with 12 pts, second only to then teammate Andy McDonald.   Though the preseason is only a small measure of what is to come and likely didn't convince many poolies that he was worth drafting outside the later rounds he was certainly on the radar.
