In a city that talks hockey 12 months a year, much of the summer chatter dealt with one sentence from Saku Koivu. The team captain told a reporter the Canadiens definitely have a team to make the playoffs, but not to win a Stanley Cup. "I said that on paper, we're not the favourite to win the Stanley Cup, but I'm very positive we will make the playoffs and from there on, everything's open," he said. "We have to focus on what we have here, not on who's not here."

If a team can make the playoffs they can win the cup.

Koivu is a dork. He has about as much passion for hockey as Raycroft does.

I'll agree that the statement that he made was dorky. It should have been more like, I am exciting with the changes we have made to our team and I believe that we have gotten better.....blah blah blah.

You stating that he has as much passion for hockey as Raycroft is the same as you saying that he has no passion at all.

Beating cancer and returning to play when he should have stayed out for the entire season shows passion to me. Not to mention over coming an eye injury where he lost some of his vision to continue playing.

Ahh well, yes, at least he was realistic as we all know the habs won't win the cup.

Is this what the habs have been reduced to? Being content with making the playoffs. So much for the glory of the Canadians.

This is why the Leafs are Canada's Team. THEY WILL BRING STANLEY BACK TO TORONTO!
