Toronto Maple Leafs announced today they have sent Nazem Kadri back to junior. I know some of you fans were clamoring for him to stick with the big club this year. However, the kid is only 18. He needs some bulk. Another year in junior will do him well.

Christian Hanson was assigned to the AHL. I like this kid. He works hard in the corners. But it's a good decision. He will be called up soon.

Bozak is a good player. I'm excited to see what he can do. But I wouldn't be surprised if he is cut today as well.

Now the next 3 players I'm going to talk about deserve to be on the team.

Gunnarsson. Leafs havent had a defenceman in AGES that can shoot on net, low and direct, that can also play defence.

Viktor Stahlberg. This kid reminds of Lindros. He's not afraid to be out in front of the net. He scores when he does. He has lightning fast speed. There is no way this kid is not making the team. When the RED WINGS back up when he picks up the puck in fear of him skating by you.. well.. the leafs havent had a guy like that since I can remember.

Monster - He allowed 1 goal in 38 shots in the rookie tournament. Allowed 0 goals in 2 pre-season games. It's not just the stats so far. He LOOKS like an NHL goaltender. He fills up so much of the net. Based on positioning, confidence, and attitude I would give him the starting job right now. Cant be worse then last year. This is guy is going to make people forger about Potvin, Cujo, and Belfour REAL fast. Let alone toskala.

I agree 100% with sending Kadri back down. It was promising to see him have a good camp and do well in exhibition games but Ron Wilson hit the nail on the head. They expect him to be a 100 point player and he needs to achieve that in the minors before he can in the NHL. Plus, at 18 years old he can afford some junior time.

On a side note.....hope Viktor Stahlberg keeps his head up unlike Lindros for your sake.
