The Maple Leafs will not make a move to fire general manager John Ferguson unless they can secure a star replacement. And the rumoured list is pretty impressive.

If MLSE will let a different GM actually improve the team then I'm up for anything.

I hope that Leaf fans understand that if Ferguson is replaced it will take about 3-4 years to turn things around.

How about a GM with some experience, or even better a GM that has actually had some success. I'm not holding my breath.

The best I heard was Brian Burke. I don't think he'll want to leave SOCAL though. He'd definately stand up to the board and make decissions based on hockey and not profits.

I don't think you will see Brian Burke in Toronto EVER. Who else do you have in mind Leaf Fans?

Gilmour.........I read that he was being groomed for a head office job. I like the idea of going out there and getting a proven executive to take control.

I also read that Gilmour is more interested in coaching then being a GM. I thought that was odd since he current works in player personel and was scouting last season.
