Stastny's hat trick pulls Avs past Stars

Paul Stastny had his first career hat trick and Andrew Brunette added three assists as the Colorado Avalanche held off the Dallas Stars for a 4-3 victory Wednesday night in the season opener for both teams. Wojtek Wolski added a goal and Jaroslav Hlinka had two assists for Colorado. Jeff Halpern, Niklas Hagman and Jussi Jokinen scored for the Stars, who had their 10-game unbeaten streak in season openers snapped.

Stastny opened my eyes last year during his rookie year points streak where I was lucky enough to pick him up in my fantasy league before anyone else!

His 07/08 preseason performance was at the top of the league and that has now carried over to the regular season with a season opener hat trick!!! wow

23 year old Undrafted Fabian Brunnstrom picks up a hat trick in his first career NHL game. Only the third player in history to do that.
