CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: Len Ziehm reports all signs point to Blackhawks being on the verge of acquiring center Michael Nylander from the Washington Capitals. Forward Dustin Byfuglien and defenseman Brent Sopel were surprise scratches prior to Thursday's Blackhawks-Dallas Stars game. "Nylander, 36, played for the Hawks from 1999 to 2002. He'll earn $4.875 million for the next three seasons. Byfuglien is signed for two more seasons at $3 million per year, and Sopel has two years left on a contract that pays $2.5 million per season."SPECTOR'S NOTE: Hat tip to regular contributor GJ Berg.
